Thoughts for a New Year

Dear ones,

If you're reading this, you're probably thinking "Here we go. Corri has a new blog. Again. I wonder how long this one will last. What a lame-o."

Well, stop right there. I've put a lot of thought into it and a very nice lady named Lauren worked very hard to design this site for me. So settle in, you're stuck with me.

2013 is on it's way out. I remember this time a year ago. I was at home with my Mom and Dad and my dear friends Justin and Nickie, who would get engaged a few weeks later. We played games and rang in a new year, uncertain of what was ahead, but filled with anticipation and hope.

Thanksgiving.

December has been strange. Between my own string of anxiety attacks, sickness among family members, and the unexpected passing of my granddaddy, it has been tough. Even so, I think that December has taught me more than most other months of my life. I've faced life and death and meaning and it has all boiled down to one thing: love. Without the love of my family, my friends, acquaintances, semi-strangers, and Jesus, I would be nowhere. But since that love is here - and so evident today - I have everything.

Clearly this is not the most thorough reflection of the year that is just about over. But it is my starting point for the year that is about to begin.

I have always been one for New Year's Resolutions. I usually have a list that I amend over the year. This new year, however, my list is short. My resolution is one item, and that item is love. Love fiercely and immediately. Make your love known now and often. Do not wait. Do not hesitate. Life is short and little else matters other than love: love Jesus, love your family, love your friends, love strangers, love your enemies, love yourself. Love. It is essential.

Happy New Year & welcome 2014!
Love it.
